Central Presbyterian Church was formed in 1888 and on the 100th anniversary of the church a committee was formed to produce a history of the church.  The church's history is intertwined with the history of Fort Smith and several community organizations contributed to the development of the church's history.

On this particular soggy Sunday morning -- April 29, 1888 -- a small group of men and women slowly made their way up the dark and narrow stairs on the dingy second floor storeroom between 7th and 8th streets on Garrison. Representing almost a cross-section of the city's diverse society, some spoke excitedly while others seemed grim. It was a solemn occasion,  the forming of a new church . . .

This is our church's history from 1888 - 1988.  The pictures from our history are not included but they are coming.
